Throughout the Gospels, we are encouraged to love and care for our neighbors and most recently by our Holy Father Pope Francis who urges us to “direct our attention and actions to mercy so that we may become a more effective sign of the Father's actions in our lives.” Our third pillar provides members and their families a platform for regular engagement through Works of Mercy.
At least twice yearly, members of SSJ and the Mercy Committee will organize and implement a large scale service project to serve our community. All SSJ members and their families are strongly encouraged to participate in these activities.
These works are designed to encourage SSJ Small Groups to adopt Works of Mercy that appeal collectively to the hearts of the men within their group. Projects can be single defined events, or ongoing initiatives, and groups are encouraged to complete at least one project per semester.
